Where to start, where to start? I read the first book in this series and thought it was just okay. Let me say that I love Cynthia Eden whether it’s her paranormal books or her Deadly series. So, I was kind of disappointed with the first book. But this one was fantastic! I loved it in a BIG way.

Trace Weston is a former black-ops soldier, foster child and now a billionaire security specialist. Don’t let the billionaire thing turn you off. It totally worked in this book. He met Skye Sullivan in one of his foster homes and he saved her from an attempted rape. The two of them fell in love then. Then Trace disappeared for ten years. Skye went looking for him when she was being stalked and Trace helped her.

In this book it’s someone from Trace’s past in the military that is stalking them both. This book continues their love story and their struggles to overcome their pasts. Secrets are everywhere here. Skye wants Trace to open up about his past and he doesn’t want to for fear that she can’t handle the darkness that lives inside him if he tells her.

A lot went on in this story. Love, action, plot twists, new character introductions, heart pounding suspense and tons of hot sex. Really hot sex. Cynthia Eden has really hit her stride with this book. I simply can not wait until the next book comes out!

Kitty is a cougar shifter and has a past as a bit of a wild child. She’s been exiled from her Pride and sent to a neutral zone. A neutral zone is where the misfits and rejects from various shifter breeds are sent when they can’t stay with their own kind. Kitty’s father did some very bad things that Kitty was aware of but didn’t stop, although all those things were not discussed in this book.

Rare is a wolf shifter who is in line to be Alpha of his pack. He rescues Kitty after she is attacked by some of her former Pride in the neutral zone and nearly raped by members of his own pack. His uncle is the current Alpha and is retiring soon. since he has no sons, Rafe is next in line, if no one challenges him. He senses something in this damaged female he and his friend, Simon, nurse back to health.

The attraction between Rafe and Kitty sizzle the pages as only forbidden love can. He recognizes her as his mate and doesn’t truly fight it. Kitty fears the ramifications of a relationship between the two of them. They have Pack politics, claiming rights, mating frenzy and retribution to face. This was a good start to a new series and I enjoyed it. This is a spin off of another one of Eliza Gayle’s series but I don’t feel like I have to read the other one if I don’t want to. This had action, love and some pretty good sex in it.

Hayden and Sierra work at a Las Vegas casino called The Serafina. He is second in command in security and she is head chef at the hotel restaurant. They met there and became friends. Sierra has wanted Hayden since they met but figured he was way out of her league. Not to mention he was way more experienced sexually than her. Sierra is a twenty-two year old virgin. Hayden is thirty-two and an ex-SEAL. Sex has always been easy to find for him but since he met Sierra, he hasn’t slept with anyone. He didn’t want anyone but her.

This worked for me in every way. SEAL? Check. Virginal heroine? Check. Las Vegas? Check. A little suspense thrown in? Check. Low conflict? Check. Hot love scenes? Check. It’s a novella so it is short in length but I loved it. I thought it was sweet and hot. A great start to a new series for Katie Reus and one I will most certainly be reading.
