Knight Sebring is an enigma. Really, he is. He’s a kid from the streets, who had a prostitute for a mother and never knew his biological father. He has a wonderful stepfather and a ass of a half brother. He is a successful night club owner, has a beautiful home and a endless supply of female attention.

Anya Gage is a struggling but hard working young woman. Orphaned at a young age and raised by a hateful and neglectful aunt, she’s never known love since her parents’ deaths. She’s had only herself to rely on financially. Thankfully, she has a wonderful best friend, Vivica.

These two people meet at a party and the pages of this novel light on fire, full force. No slow build up for them. Blazing attraction and the love scenes, the love scenes, OMG, blistering! I think I fell a little for Knight. No, I know I did. He’s alpha to the point of punching him in the throat but it is also the most endearing thing about him. You learn a lot about the pasts of these characters and how it has molded them into who they are.

There were two things I didn’t care for in the book though. First, the use of the “C” word was too repetitious for me. Secondly, Anya calling Knight “Daddy” in bed was honestly gross to me. Kristen Ashley is magnificent at writing love scenes and leading alpha males. I love what I have read from her and will continue to read much more from her in the future.

Abby, a professor, needs to get a paper published and it needs to be memorable. She decides a paper on observations of the BDSM community would make a good topic. So she heads down to Dark Haven to get started. When she arrives, she ends up taking a job as a receptionist. One of the perks is a free membership, but the receptionist is also expected to help out with demonstrations given by club owner Xavier. Xavier recognizes the submissive in Abby immediately. He is intrigued by her in ways that he hasn’t felt since his wife passed away.

I won’t ruin the story by telling more, but this book is hot. This story has stuck with me for days after finishing it. I enjoyed it so much I hate having to dissect it in order to write a review. Finishing this one had thrown me into a book-funk. I haven’t been able to settle into another book because none seems to measure up to My Liege. I highly recommend this one to any fans of BDSM romance.  (Wow, that got a bit gushy, my apologies.)

Kendra, a masochist, has escaped an abusive relationship with her self-esteem in tatters and has decided to never give someone the power to hurt her like that again.  That means she will ignore her sexual desires and needs instead.  But when she attends an open night at a sex club (as a way to prove to herself that she no longer needs the pain), she realizes she can’t bury her needs forever.  Deklan, co-owner of the sex club, has met Kendra before, but when he sees her at the club he thinks he might be able to help her accept her needs.  And Deklan is always a giver and helper.  Deklan and Kendra enter into a two month Dom/sub contract, but both make discoveries about themselves that change everything.

This book was a little more intense, pain-wise, than most other BDSMs that I have read.  A masochist as a heroine was a new experience for me and I enjoyed Kendra’s character a lot.  She is a strong woman who has lost herself and is fighting to get back to some sort of normal.  Deklan is a wounded hero who has failed to help too many times in the past.  He struggles with allowing Kendra to find her own way, not helping too much.  I loved watching Kendra and Deklan change during the course of their contract.  I look forward to reading more of this series (the first book is now added to my TBR list) and more by this author.
