Garcia “Fox” Garcia and Coralee “Lee” Keaton are cohorts so to speak in the military. They work on a team that deals with environmental terrorism. They are attacked on base and have to hide in a safe room until back up arrives.

These two have hooked up before and somehow find time for a tryst. I won’t say anymore as this is a very short story. I didn’t love it or hate it.

Caleb Edgington is a retired Colonel and sniper for the Army. He has been mentioned in the other books of this series but as a background character. This novella is all about him and he’s as entertaining as the rest of the men in this series.

Carlotta Buckley is a divorcee and Caleb’s daughter-in-law’s mother. We met Carlotta a couple of books ago when her daughter rescued her from a abusive marriage. Caleb has been helping her get back on her feet.

Both of these characters had to do a lot of accepting, not only of the other but of themselves and their pasts. It was nice to read about Carlotta trying to be more independent after her marriage and Caleb trying to be less domineering with her.

Oh, Shayla Black. How do I love thee? Let me count the ways. If you’ve never read Shayla Black then I highly suggest you do. No one writes a love scene better! No one! Her love scenes blister the pages and have you reaching for something to fan yourself with. Her stories are endearing for the most part. A little heavy on the BDSM at times for me, but I’m a little prudish to begin with for that sub-genre(pardon the pun). This was a great read and I can’t wait for the next book in this series coming out May 7th!

The story starts out a rock concert for Jaydon Hawke’s band. Rachel, the heroine and Cameron, her best friend are trying to get backstage with only one pass. Cameron is trying to get Rachel to take a walk on the wild side and sleep with a rock star. Rachel is kind of shy and considers herself smart but not attractive.

Jaydon Hawke is a bonafide rock star. Oh yeah, and he’s also a a Navy SEAL. Rachel helps him with a stuck zipper and he’s hooked from there.  He’s undercover trying to capture a terrorist and thinks Rachel is somehow involved.

Nothing about this story worked for me at all. I tried, I really did. It has two things I love to read about: Navy SEALS and rock stars. Still those things did not help. Let me list what I liked and disliked.

Like- Max. He was a good character.

Disliked- A rock star that’s a Navy SEAL? Come on. Cameron grated my nerves so bad I thought I was gonna scream. The men in the story were a little Beta for me. The sex scenes-not enough and not hot enough.

I gave  the book a D rating because I admire authors and the sacrifices they and their families make so we as readers have something to read. Otherwise, my review rating would’ve been worse.
