Tabitha Allen is a biker club princess and when she was younger, a train wreck. She made unwise choices and she and the people she loved paid the price. As an adult, she tried to live what she thought was the dream only to have her world implode. She has always had a crush on Parker “Shy” Cage who is a member of the MC(motorcycle club) her dad is the president of.

Shy Cage has always noticed Tabby but never acted on it because of her age and the MC. He’s quite the ladies man and is very outspoken with his opinions. He makes a judgement call with Tabby when she’s younger and for a long time it defines their relationship.

I’m a big fan of Kristen Ashley. I have to say Knight is still my favorite but I really liked this book and Motorcycle Man. It would help if you have read Motorcycle Man first but you don’t have to. If you have, you’ll see that Tabby fell for a guy a lot like her dad, Tack. This story was very emotional and hard to read at times because of the pain these characters were in. The losses they had were staggering and changed who they were as people at a young age. I highly recommend this book for readers of Kristen Ashley’s books or anyone who wants a great story by a great author.

 Trish Muffett came over from Make Believe at the same time as Nicky Blue and she immediately felt like she had found her soul mate. But they parted ways with barely a hello. Now Trish is investigating some strange deaths and Nicky has turned vigilante. Their paths meet again when Nicky saves Trish during an attack. But it’s getting impossible to tell who’s on the good side and who’s turned evil.

I really liked the premise of this book. Fairytale and nursery rhyme characters living in today’s world. But they’re not exactly who you think they would be. Miss Muffett (Trish) can’t get rid of her trademark curls, but her fear of spiders isn’t because she saw one while eating her whey. And who can resist a reformed bad boy? Nicky started his life in the Here and Now as a crime boss. But now he’s trying to rid the world of one of the biggest bad guys-Dracula. But Dracula has set his sights on Trish. I did struggle at times, trying to keep all the background characters straight. This may have come from the fact that I haven’t read the first 2 books in this series.

Fast-paced and unique, Along Came a Spider kept me turning pages from beginning to end. I wouldn’t hesitate to read another book in this series. Do you have a fairytale themed series you like?

Here’s my book club style recap: So, there is this ship and crew (which reminded me of the Millenium Falcon, minus the wookie and plus gay men) who are on a mission to rescue this kidnapped guy (his name is Neith) who is being forced to work in a brothel.  They do a daring rescue, and they succeed, but it turns out he’s been given lots of drugs that make him horny (to the point of pain, of course) and thankfully there’s a guy on board (big old guy with a heart of gold named Killian) who is willing to, ahem, help him out until the drug wears off.  (It’s a long lasting drug!)  Action and adventure ensues.  Will the nasty pimp with a big space ship come after them?  Will they be able to tell really lust and love from drug fueled feelings?
 
What a great read! I have to go back and read the first book in this series now, because, as is usual for me, I started with book 2 in the series. It’s an interesting space/future world set up. m/m vs m/f romance doesn’t seem to be an issue at all in this world, which was interesting and nice.

I was a bit nervous that the story would include a man who had been forced into prostitution.  That’s a touchy subject and not one to be made light of.  I thought the repercussions of the forced prostitution were handled ok. My thought is that there would be bigger after effects, but it wasn’t totally ignored, so I’m good with that. I’m a sucker for unintentional aphrodisiac stories, so that part really worked for me.

I thought Killian and Neith’s relationship was sweet. I enjoyed the secondary characters, too. After reading the interaction between the captain and the pilot (main characters from the first book) I have to go back and read that one.  A caution – Killian has an accent.  You know, the kind where you don’t say any of the “g”s in “ing” words.  That bugged me a bit.  I know it really drives some people bonkers.  But after a while his endearment for Neith (li’l bit) stopped being annoying and ended up being really sweet.

This was a  fun read I’d recommend to people who enjoy sci/fi space romance.
